About Me

My photo
barry edwards artist
I live in Waterford City, Ireland and love walking the coastline here along the river Suir, places like Ballinakill woods, Passage East, Woodstown, Cheekpoint and Dunmore East.I spend a lot of time looking at the Rock pools, rock shapes, twisted roots of fallen trees and the clumps of seaweed that cling to the rocks.I also spend time in Castletown near Gorey Wexford, places like Clone Beach and Kilpatrick. Also Bree near Enniscorthy.Recently I have been looking down at ground level more but still like to play around with the landscape, it really all depends on what I find on the day. Most paintings are done on the spot, plein air.I work mostly with watercolour and acrylics but like to experiment with charcoal and just simply sketch. The painting you see here of a herring was one of the first things I did, you could say it was the beginning.
